 | We have a building permit!! Stay tuned
and check back progress and the building begins!! The recent rains
have warned us that we need to get to work ASAP. Last year parts
of the old museum roof collapsed putting many of the valuable artifacts
at risk. This last week we had rain and wind which leaked into the
museum. It is crucial we have a space to move the precious items
into as soon as possible before the fall and winter weather really hits.
Once the shell of the building is complete, moving of items will begin
and the interior completed around the items. If you can help with
the move, or the building of interior walls, etc., please contact a
member of the Board. We would love for this to be a community
project. |

time. Come join us! For more information, call Sally at

 | The survey is complete and the building plans have been drawn!
The next step is obtaining a building permit and getting the work
started!! We will need to purchase two power poles from Idaho
Power for the site. The color of the metal building will be a
Mocha Tan with a red roof and ivory trim. It should be an
attractive addition to College Hill. |

 | The Gooding County Historical officials have been working hard on
getting the new museum construction started. A local surveyor
completed the survey needed to draw up the lease for the city, but
withdrew the stakes after a dispute over the inadequate job done.
The Society will be hiring another surveyor. The 99-year lease
with the City of Gooding has been signed. The Society is looking
for licensed or certified electrical and plumbing contractors to design
the museum's electrical and plumbing systems. If you know of
anyone, or you are licensed, please contact a Society official.
Once the building systems have been designed and we are granted a
building permit, construction can begin!! |

 | The Society hosted another successful dinner and auction on February
25th, 2006. The theme this year was "Blue Jeans and Country
Dreams". Wanted posters and cowboy boots decorated the dining
room. The wonderful dinner, catered by the Basque Center,
consisted of hot wings and bean soup appetizers, roast beef and
vegetables topped off with pie for dessert. Cowboy Tom Patton
entertained all with his wit and talented country-western singer, Nathan
Price, serenaded the audience with his beautiful voice. Everyone
was a winner with the balloon auction while other items were auctioned
off to the highest bidder. All together, the evening raised
$6,000. All proceeds will go toward the new museum building. |
